The Bengals must have read our post last week because we called it a “must-win” game for them, and they delivered with a W. This edition of Thursday Night Football features a high-powered AFC North battle. The AFC North has long been characterized by hard hitting, long-standing rivalries, and mostly evenly-matched teams. While the Bengals come into this game sitting at 4-5 overall, they are a better team than what their record shows. The Ravens, at 6-3 and second in the AFC North behind Pittsburgh, have a record that might actually undersell them just a little.
Earlier in the season, the Bengals and Ravens played a wild game in The Cincinnati Jungle which resulted in a 41-38 overtime victory for Baltimore. That game featured a ton of offense from both teams. Lamar Jackson had a great game as he threw for 348 yards and 4 TD. Derrick Henry rumbled for 92 yards on 15 carries while adding a rushing TD. Joe Burrow had a monster game as well. Burrow went 30 for 39 passing with 392 yards and 5 TD, but did have 1 INT on the day. The Ravens could not stop Ja’Marr Chase. Chase was a problem in that game (10 receptions, 193 yards, 2 TD) and looks to continue to be a problem against the Ravens on Thursday Night, especially in the expected absence of fellow receiver Tee Higgins (Quad).
There is just something special about a primetime AFC North matchup at M&T Bank Stadium. With the lights shining the brightest, we expect another classic game between these two classic teams. If there was ever a TNF game we beg you to crack open a Red Bull to stay up and watch, it’s gonna be this one. - Dillon Draughn
